Transoptic designs and develops Solar Energy Assistance (SEA) as an add on for conventional Water Heaters. Transoptic’s proprietary Wave Guide is a solar-thermal delivery system. Transoptic’s $300 SEA product saves over 45% of the energy required to operate a conventional water heater. The Transoptic technology can also be applied to swimming pools, and industrial heaters.

A typical Transoptic SEA system with a 2-square-meter collector dish will generate about 82 Therm’s of heat energy per year.  The SEA wave guide can deliver 1 Therms of energy per day below 160 degrees Fahrenheit. A typical water heater utilizes about 58 Therms of energy per year for an average household. The water inside the water heater would act as a battery that receives the thermal energy in the morning, save it for evening usage.
